Coach education

Our coach education programme supports students to gain coaching and officiating qualifications during their time at St Andrews and develop their skills in various environments throughout the year.

The Hockey Club runs a nationally recognised Junior Hockey programme for school children in the local area, with weekly sessions delivered by a team of student coaches.

Once students have developed their skills they can begin to work with the student teams at the University.

Umpiring

Student umpires are fundamental to the success of the Hockey Club and the club are always looking to develop additional umpire resource.

Players are encouraged to take a rules test online before gaining experience throughout the year, starting at mixed hockey and training to improve their confidence, before taking on competitive matches.

Hockey Camps

Our annual residential hockey camps programme takes place each summer at the University’s sports facilities and welcomes players aged 13 to 18 years old from all over the world.

Our weeklong camps are tailored for different levels of playing experience and ability, but throughout the programme players are able to better their knowledge of the game in a safe and inclusive environment.

If you are keen to attend one of our camps in 2025, then please complete our short online form to register your interest.
